چکیده

Airbus, the European aircraft manufacturer has started a program for developing the biggest aircraft ever built: the Airbus A380 which will be able to carry 550 passengers on two decks in the three classes version (Figure 1). The six components of the airplane (two wings, rear, central and front fuselages, and horizontal tail plane) are to be produced in different European cities (Figure 2). They need to be transported from these cities to Toulouse in France for assembly. Several means of transportation have been investigated. The solution chosen by Airbus in coordination with the French government is to carry the components by boat from each production site to Langon, a harbour near Bordeaux and from there to Toulouse by road on truck convoys. The very first convoy is scheduled in fall 2003. Driving the six A380 components on trucks between two cities 200 km far from each other is a real challenge. Indeed, the sizes of the trucks together with their freights can reach 12.5 meter height, 8 meter width and 50 meter length.

Trajectory segmentation for the autonomous control of backward motion for truck and trailer

Abstract: For logistics centers the disposition and dispatch of goods has reached a high standard of automation. However, the trucks and trailers bringing and taking the goods are driven manually. This can at least be improved for the non-public traffic in the scope of logistics centers by autonomous forward and backward motion control for standard transportation vehicles. By an experimental sy...

Heuristic with elements of tabu search for Truck and Trailer Routing Problem

Vehicle Routing Problem is a well-known problem in logistics and transportation, and the variety of such problems is explained by the fact that it occurs in many real-life situations. It is an NP-hard combinatorial optimization problem and finding an exact optimal solution is practically impossible. In this work, SiteDependent Truck and Trailer Routing Problem with hard and soft Time Windows an...

Heuristic for Site-Dependent Truck and Trailer Routing Problem with Soft and Hard Time Windows and Split Deliveries

In this paper we develop an iterative insertion heuristic for a site-dependent truck and trailer routing problem with soft and hard time windows and split deliveries. In the considered problem a truck can leave its trailer for unloading or parking, make a truck-subtour to serve truckcustomers, and return back to take the trailer. This can be done several times in one route. In our heuristic eve...

A hybrid multi-objective evolutionary algorithm for solving truck and trailer vehicle routing problems

This paper considers a transportation problem for moving empty or laden containers for a logistic company. A model for this truck and trailer vehicle routing problem (TTVRP) is first constructed in the paper. The solution to the TTVRP consists of finding a complete routing schedule for serving the jobs with minimum routing distance and number of trucks, subject to a number of constraints such a...

Small Aircraft Transportation Systems

INTRODUCTION Air transportation systems are based on a variety of vehicles including fixed wing aircraft and helicopters. The most diverse and developed category remains the fixed wing aircraft with sizes ranging from single seat to 555 seats in the case of the Airbus A380. This size characterization relates to passenger vehicles. However, cargo aircraft have similar range of sizes. The largest...
